Cali Gorevic is an award winning black and white fine art photographer and sculptor living in the Hudson Valley, New York. Originally a medium format film photographer, she also now photographs digitally. She has been sculpting with water based clay since the 1970's when she moved to Maine and dug her clay from dried up river beds. Back in New York for years, many of her pieces have been cast in bronze at various Hudson Valley foundries.
Cali's work is inspired by nature, music and deep emotional responses. She often travels to alternative environments for the inspiration she finds among trees and rocks, but has also produced photographic portfolios of still life and architecture, as well as “Imagine That”, a children’s book featuring digital color composites of toys. With clay she explores psychological, physical and even political themes. With the same inspirations, she develops abstract variations on each of her themes in both of her mediums.
Cali has taught privately and at the Garrison Art Center, where she also served for many years on the Board of Directors. She has shown nationally and internationally. Her work appears in numerous private and corporate collections and she has also served as curator, judge and juror for many organizations including NYFA.
“Our world is replete with energy, poetry and mystery which I feel compelled to explore. With my vision and imagination I can create a reality that does not exist, can make order out of chaos, and can show the viewer my perception of the visual world we share.”
